Rapid City Police are investigating a second homicide in less than 24 hours. They are the first 2 homicides of 2019. Wednesday afternoon a young man was found dead in the 300 block of East Adams Street.
Rapid City Police say they are investigating a shooting believed to have happened in an alleyway behind the 700 block of Blaine Avenue. Police say there is one victim and that he has serious life threatening injuries.
A federal jury deliberated less than an hour Friday before returning a guilty verdict for 24-year old Zachariah Michael Poor Bear on charges of first degree murder and assault resulting in serious bodily injury of a minor.
It started at about 9:00 Friday night and ended after one Saturday morning. The Rapid City-Pennington County Special Response Team was involved in a standoff at a home on Gnugnuska Drive in Rapid City.
