RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV)

Working for a hockey team in Florida. That's the new gig for the Rapid City Rush's Jay Davis.

He's the voice heard throughout the arena at Rush home games. Davis has been the Rush's public address announcer since September of 2011. Davis is the director of corporate partnerships and the director of game operations for the Rush. He will have a similar role with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL. Part of the reason for the move to Florida was to be closer to family. Davis' last day with the Rush will be June sixth.

"Everything I did on the microphone was really only as good as the crowd made it, said Davis. "You know, it was all about Rush nation. They're the ones that made announcing fun. They made it fun to come every night and do that. Because we have such a responsive crowd here. They want to cheer. They love it. They love the excitement that is Rush hockey and I'm going to miss all of them."

Davis was behind the mic for 266 consecutive games for the Rush.
