Zinfandel Burgers


2 lb ground beef
1/4 c Zinfandel
1/4 c minced red onion
1/4 c Italian seasoned bread crumbs
8 sun dried tomatoes, drained and finely chopped
2 tsp garlic salt
6 hamburger buns
2/3 c mayonnaise
6 slices Colby jack cheese
2 TB prepared basil pesto
lettuce, tomatoes, red onions for sides


Preheat grill to 425 degrees.
Combine first 6 ingredients. Mix by hand, but don't overmix.
Form into patties and place on the grill.
Grill hamburger patties until done (5 to 6 minutes per side).
During the last minute of cooking, top each hamburger with a slice of cheese.
Mix mayonnaise and pesto in a small bowl and spread some of this mixture onto each of the buns.
Assemble burgers and serve immediately.
