Oven Baked Beef Stew


1 lb stew meat, cubed
6 medium carrots, sliced
1 c celery, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 red potatoes, chopped
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 TB sugar (optional)
1 TB salt
1 1/2 TB corn starch


Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Combine meat, carrots, celery, onion and potatoes in bowl. Reserve juice from stewed tomatoes and stir in corn starch to dissolve. Add tomatoes and corn starch to meat mixture, as well as sugar and salt.
Mix together then pour into a casserole or roaster; cover and bake 3 hours or until tender.
