Butterscotch Brownies


1 stick butter
1 c packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 TB milk
1 large egg
1 c flour
1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 7 by 7 by 2 inch pan.
Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; remove from heat.
Stir in brown sugar, vanilla and milk.
In another bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir in egg.
Add butter and sugar mixture and stir to combine well.
Pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool 5 minutes in pan on wire rack.
