SPEARFISH CANYON, LAWRENCE COUNTY, S.D. (KOTA TV) -- We now know the name of the woman who died near Spearfish Canyon in a snowmobile accident on Dec. 27.

Gail Wolf of Omaha, Neb., was riding a rented snowmobile when she veered off the trail and collided with a rock, according to state Game, Fish and Parks investigators.

A family member who was riding on the back of the sled with Wolf survived the crash, according to Shannon Percy, the GF&P district park supervisor.

Wolf, 43, was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Percy said.
