At 3 a.m. on Mt. Rushmore Rd, Al captured some vehicles that were covered with snow due to the heavy snow and snow drifts.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - People in the Black Hills braced themselves for one of the strongest winter storms of the 2018-19 winter season in western South Dakota.

The storm started Wednesday just before noon and lasted throughout Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning. With the heavy snow and strong winds, most of the area saw blizzard conditions, including in Rapid City.

The blizzard allowed not only for limited or restricted travel, but also created snow drifts that ranged from a few inches to drifts that were several feet tall!

With these conditions, some of you sent photos to us from your backyard! Thank you all for the photos, and for those of you who have photos, please submit those to kotatv.mycapture.com.
