VA hears pleas to keep Hot Springs hospital
The secretary of Veterans Affairs traveled to Hot Springs Wednesday and heard one message over and over: “Save our hospital.”
Nearly 500 supporters of the hospital turned out to send that message to VA Secretary Robert McDonald.
The VA recently released its final report on restructuring the VA health system in the Black Hills. The report states that the preferred option is to open a new operation in Rapid City and shrink services in Hot Springs.
The secretary said he hoped to make a final decision before the change in administration and would weigh new input he received Wednesday in Hot Springs.
