Two arrested in Wyoming after 123 pounds of marijuana discovered

CASPER, Wyo. (KOTA TV) - Two people have been arrested in Wyoming after a traffic stop uncovered 123 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $307,000. Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers pulled over a speeding Chevy Silverado driven by 29-year-old Thong Xiong, Thursday morning on US 220 near Casper.

Xiong said he was traveling from Grenada, Calif. to Sioux Falls, S.D. before going to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. His passenger, 30-year-old Choua Khang, gave a conflicting account of travel plans.

Troopers saw boxes in the vehicle and Xiong admitted to having drugs inside. A WHP canine alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics.

A search revealed around 111 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in a large box, a purse and a modified washing machine. Thong and Khang were booked at the Natrona County Detention Center.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
