Try this upgrade for your smoke alarm

"Evacuate. Evacuate. There's a fire."
Smartphones, smart speakers, smart homes, and now smart smoke alarms are on the shelves, making life easier.
With Daylight Saving Time just around the corner, it's time once again to check the smoke alarms. Swapping out the batteries is good enough for many of us, but if you're looking for an upgrade, smart smoke alarms are the way to go.
The Onelink and Nest models are both smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors using verbal commands as well as traditional beeping sounds.
They are also compatible with your other smart products, like Amazon's Alexa or Google Home and your phone.
Some people, especially young children, will sleep right through an alarm, but will wake up to a voice.
The voice also takes the guess work out of what the beeping sound means by verbally telling you what the problem is, whether that's a fire, high levels of Carbon Monoxide, or if the unit simply needs a new battery.
"You have a voice telling you what the alarm is, where it's active in your house and what room it's coming from," said sales for manager Brian Swenson. "Also, they link up to your smart phone so if you're not at home you will get messages on your phone that says you have an alarm going off."
However, if you opt for an upgrade be prepared to shell out the extra cash. Both models cost $119 each and you will likely need multiple units in your home.
