Iconic actor Tom Hanks recently tweeted in promotion of a book, about moving to South Dakota.
Written on Tuesday, the tweet reads: "The most optimistic stories, about America! Non-fiction, personal May move to Sioux Falls, at least visit. Rapid City, too. Others! Hanx.
The tweet was followed by a picture of a book called "Our Towns: a 100,000-journey Into the Heart of America." Written by James Fallows and Deborah Fallows, this book chronicles their journey and perspectives across America from coast-to-coast.
Rapid City is a beautiful community and who wouldn't want visit or live here," said Julie Jones-Whitcher, vice president of sales and public relations for Visit Rapid City. "We are the residents of presidents, we're a city of presidents in downtown Rapid City, we're the gateway to the beautiful Black Hills and Badlands. When somebody of the status of a movie actor says something about Rapid City in a positive note, we always take recognition of that so we would be more than delighted to invite Mr. Tom Hanks to Rapid City to visit."
The tweet became popular on Twitter with South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem and Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds tweeted in response to Hanks, welcoming the big celebrity to come to South Dakota
