RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Food trucks are becoming very popular in the Black Hills, and now the city of Rapid City is doing something to regulate their usage.

Thursday, the Rapid City planning commission approved an ordinance regulating mobile food vendors. Some of the regulations are: the mobile food vendors cannot operate on city streets or sidewalks, except in conjunction with a special event permitted by the city.

Vendors also must ensure access to people with disabilities, provide trash, recycling bins, and maintain the area free from litter.

The ordinance will go to the city council for two readings and if approved, the regulations will go into effect by mid-June.
