The Dahl Arts Center is bringing a little Hawaiian flavor with their new executive director. For two weeks, Susan Hughes has been wearing the executive director cap. As a former arts teacher in Hawaii, Hughes understands how art can unite. With a big native Hawaiian population on the islands, Hughes understands the importance of expressing native culture... and plans to do the same here.
"So I am looking forward to getting all the Native Americans involved. I know they are. We've got lots of things that we do. We do lots of Native American art exhibits. So I think there is a real translation between Honolulu and Rapid City," says Hughes.
Hughes encourages inclusion and wants every one of all ages to indulge in the art exhibits and classes the center offers.
