On Monday Disabled American Veterans partnered with A and W for National Root Beer Float Day.

A&W gave away free root beer floats in return for at-will donations for the DAV.

Disabled American Veterans is a non-profit organization with more than one million veteran members.

These members suffer from some degree of disability that occurred while serving in a war.

The DAV says fundraisers like today's help them fulfill their mission: building better lives for disabled vets and their families.

H.G. Krosschell, DAV Rapid City Treasurer, says, "It's just fundraising for the DAV and our programs such as the van program as you see behind us here. We take patients to the V.A. hospital for no charge. We also have DAV programs where we visit the hospitals and take comfort items such as hygiene products, soaps, shampoos, things like that."

The DAV says last year they raised more than a hundred thousand dollars nationwide.
