Swap roses for wine this Valentine's Day

HILL CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - Valentine's Day is only two days away! While the National Retail Federation reports more consumers are not officially "celebrating" on February 14, many will still mark the event in some way. Instead of doing that in the traditional way with flowers, one local business offers another way to express your love.

Forget roses this Valentine's Day and break out the rosé. At Prairie Berry, staff is saying wine is the perfect gift this holiday.

"It creates that experience, that great time just sitting around having a glass of wine maybe with a box of chocolates you got next to the flowers," said Prairie Berry Hospitality Manager Ermin Husidic.

From the Anna Pesä collection, Wild Bill and of course, the infamous Red Ass Rhubarb, there's something for everyone including their valentine wine Strawberry Fusion.

"Strawberry and Moscato - it's closer to dessert style, a sweeter wine, great for having with chocolate covered strawberry perfect for valentines day," said Husidic.

If you need plans this Valentine's Day, look no further. Prairie Berry is offering up special chocolate pairings.

"There will be specific chocolate at the bar that will pair with wines we have. Then, after lunch, we have three different styles of chocolate: a trio of milk, dark and white chocolate all in one dessert. We can showcase some of the fun ways to have wines with chocolate some of the non-traditional wines you can have with chocolate as well," said Husidic.

Those chocolate pairings will take place on February 14 as well as the following weekend.
