South Dakota active COVID-19 cases are down but Pennington County cases jump

South Dakota has confirmed COVID-19 cases in 49 of the state's 66 counties; most in Minnehaha County. (MGN)

PIERRE, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - South Dakota reports that there are 2 new deaths related to COVID-19; and the number of active cases has dropped as more people recovered.
One of the deaths was reported in Pennington County and one in Minnehaha County.

The state must wait for a death certificate to be filed before reporting a death as coronavirus-related.

Tuesday morning's report shows 4,085 people in the state have been diagnosed with the coronavirus; up 58 from Monday.

The number of Pennington County cases jumped sharply with 74 positive cases, up from 58 reported Monday.
