Soldier from Black Hawk dies in Kansas

A 22-year old soldier from Black Hawk died from a gunshot wound.

According to an Army press release, Spc. Richard Cox was shot Sunday on base at Fort Riley, Kansas. Cox was transported to a Topeka hospital where he died Wednesday.

Cox was an indirect fire infantryman with the First Infantry Division. His tours of duty included deployments to Kuwait and South Korea. Cox was the recipient of several medals including the Army Commendation Medal.

The Fort Riley Criminal Investigation Command office is investigating the incident.
