Solar eclipse keeps business booming
The Sturgis Rally may be over, but visitors continue to flock to South Dakota, in particular the Black Hills area.
This time, Mother Nature is the driving force thanks to Monday's solar eclipse.
Even though the totality is south of the Black Hills, there is an economic benefit here.
Car rentals, such as Casey's, usually see on average about two rentals per day post rally. But now thanks to the eclipse they are seeing around 20 rentals.
Also hotels in the area are jammed.
“We have been taking reservations from over a year ago,” Dani Diehl, Comfort Suites Hotel, said. “I did book a really nice tour group all the way from Texas that was coming up just particularly for this event. They are going to be spending eight whole days in our area.”
