Semi-truck driver killed in I-90 crash

KADOKA, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A semi-truck driver was killed and two women injured Friday when the truck plowed into a parked car at the I-90 scenic overlook exit west of Kadoka.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, driver of the semi with a tanker trailer pulled off the interstate; went up the exit ramp and into the parking lot, hitting a curb.

The truck then tipped over and slid into a parked car. That car hit the two women who were standing in the grassy area of the parking lot. Two other people in the group were not injured.

The 54-year-old man driving the truck tractor was taken to the Philip Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The women, 63 and 57 years old, were airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Names of those involved are not being released pending notification of family members.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
