Plans for the new STAR Academy move forward

CUSTER, S.D (KOTA TV) - In January STAR Academy went on the auction block and sold to the first and only bidder. That owner, Jared Carson, has big plans for the former state treatment and rehabilitation building.

Carson, a former Custer mayor, wants to turn the building into an economic hub for local businesses to grow and flourish in.

The timeline originally was set for 2-5 years costing $3-$5 million; that now due to renovation costs will last about 10-15 years and cost over $13 million.

Carson's main focus is on local business, bringing in more higher-paying jobs to the area.
