Rural Meade County home destroyed by fire
An unoccupied home on 220th Street, north of Box Elder, was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning.
The fire was first attacked by the North Haines Volunteer Fire Department but quickly escalated into a three-alarm blaze.
A release from Pennington County Fire stated that when firefighters arrived they saw smoke and flames coming from the attic so they immediately sent out a second alarm.
It took a third alarm (more firefighters called out) to bring the fire under control, saving an attached garage and nearby structures. The firefighters were also able to keep the fire from turning into a grass fire.
