Regional Health begins construction to add parking
Construction is underway on the south side of Rapid City Regional Hospital with more parking on the way.
It's the first phase of expanding the existing surface to add an additional 198 parking spaces by the end of October.
Then in the spring, a three–story parking deck adjacent to the hospital will be built to add another 683 parking stalls.
It's just the beginning of construction for Regional Health.
"It's a multi–phased approach, so our first approach here we will be in going through September or October. We also have a lot of underground work, moving main lines and things like that, to get in place so that we can start more of the surface level parking, and then in the spring, be able to start our three–story parking garage. So it will be a multi–year approach, but when it's all done will be really excited to have those additional parking spaces, said Regional Health Senior Director of Community Relations Tiffany Smith.
Layton Construction and Gustafson Builders are managing the project.
