Rapid City teachers, school board still at odds on contract

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Rapid City school district and teachers union (Rapid City Education Association) still have not reached a contract for the current school year.

The district offered a $500 raise for teachers off schedule, while the union wants a $1,000 raise.

Teachers have also been asked to absorb an increase in the cost of health insurance. The union wants the district to pay for half the increase.

The union has asked for a fact-finding hearing and both sides are waiting for a court date.

A new agreement isn't expected this month.
