RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - At the end of July, three brands of smart parking meters where installed at various locations in downtown Rapid. The goal? To provide a more user friendly way for people to pay for parking.
Thursday, the city hosted a public meeting to talk with the community on how these meters are working out. With two different meetings held, the feedback was largely positive.
"We've gotten some great tips on how to improve signage for the full implementation, some funny things that were happening with the mobile app that's being tested now that fixes that before anything would be deployed long term," says Sarah Hanzel with the city of Rapid City.
There are three weeks left in the pilot project. Then the city council will look at the public's comments, and determine which brand of smart meter will see more widespread implementation.
