RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Rapid City man accused of attempted first degree murder and criminal solicitation pleaded not guilty in his arraignment this afternoon.
62 year old William Thoman is accused of plotting to kill a Rapid City Regional Hospital doctor who treated his wife before she lost her battle with cancer.
Thoman could face a maximum of 25 years in prison for the attempted first degree murder and up to 50 years for criminal solicitation.
Thoman's lawyer asked to dismiss the criminal solicitation charge and requested for a bond of $50,000.
The current bond is half a million dollars and the bond request was denied.
They have scheduled a non-evidentiary and a motion to dismiss hearing regarding the criminal solicitation charge a month from Thursday.
