RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV)- Rapid City Area Schools will be closed Friday, for a 3rd consecutive day, in connection with this week's blizzard.

The District notified parents that while buildings and grounds crews worked for hours Thursday to remove snow, and massive drifts, at the district's 23 school buildings and other district facilities, there is still a lot of work to do.

In the message to parents, Community Relations Manager Katy Urban says many entrances and exits are still blocked by drifts.

The message also notes that some staff members and district families still have snow removal to do before safely leaving their residences.

So in addition to Wednesday and Thursday, the schools will also be closed Friday.
