RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The popular Broadway musical set to hit the stage at Rapid City Central High School over the next three days.

The performance is put on by a group called ACTS -- Advocate for Creative Theatre Students -- and allows high school age students the chance to travel abroad to learn more about theater.

'Newsies' has a wide scope of performers -- ranging from 8-year-olds, all the way up to adults.

'Newsies' is set in in turn-of-the-20th-century New York and follows a group of kids competing to sell the latest edition of the local newspaper.

"It's all about union rights, and labor laws, and fair wages. But it is also just a lot of fun, its Disney so it has all the tropes of a Disney classic," Newsies performer Austin Fisher said.

"Coming to watch the show is not only fun for the whole family but you are supporting arts in this area and it is something that needs to continue. We can't let it die," Sarah Carsrud said,

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the box office at Rapid City Central. 'Newsies' runs from Thursday until Saturday.
