Railroad crossing construction begins next week

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad will reconstruct the railroad crossing at North Lacrosse Street, resulting in detours next week for northbound and southbound traffic in the affected area.

Effective Monday, Oct. 15, North Lacrosse Street will be closed from East Adams Street to East Van Buren Street for railroad crossing reconstruction. The detour route for northbound traffic will be East North Street to Anamosa Street. The detour route for southbound traffic will be Anamosa Street to East North Street.

The project will include pad and track replacement, lifting of the track bed and recompaction. The City will conduct patch work on the sidewalk and street.

This work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 19.
