SUNDAY UPDATE: More new cases, no new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to climb in South Dakota. As of Sunday, the health department reports 72 new positive cases today.

Out of 6,297 confirmed cases, 5,389 people have recovered. Active infections jump to 827; with 89 people hospitalized, down 2 from Saturday.

81 people have died in South Dakota from the virus. That includes 11 in Pennington County.

Pennington County now has 457 confirmed cases up 11 from Saturday, Oglala Lakota County 55 and Meade County 42. Lawrence County has 16 confirmed cases Jackson and Fall River 6, and Custer County now has 7 cases with 1 recovery. Bennett County reports 2 cases.

Wyoming is now seeing a steady rise in cases, up to 1,197 (confirmed and presumptive combined), up 18 from Saturday. Twenty Wyoming residents have died from COVID-19. Campbell County reports 47 cases (confirmed and presumptive), Sheridan County 19, Crook County 6 and Weston County 1.
