SUNDAY UPDATE: 55 more positive cases in South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - Pennington County reported its 16th death related to COVID-19 Saturday. The county now has 507 confirmed infections, up 10 from Saturday. Pennington County is just 15 cases shy of tying Beadle County for 2nd most cases in South Dakota.354 (70%) people have recovered in Pennington County.

South Dakota’s death toll stands at 91. In KOTA Territory, besides the Pennington County deaths, COVID-19 has claimed one life each in Meade and Jackson Counties, to date.

New coronavirus cases jumped again in South Dakota today, with 55 new cases reported. The state now has 6,681 COVID-19 cases; with 838 of them active. Hospitalizations are up two at 75.

In other KOTA Territory counties, positive cases continue to rise. Oglala Lakota County now reports 84 cases, Meade County 47, Lawrence County 19, Fall River 11, Custer 8, Jackson 6 and Bennett 5. Ziebach County reports 3 cases with 2 recovered.

Counties that have yet to report a confirmed virus are West River: Butte, Harding, Perkins and Haakon.

In Wyoming, positive cases continue to climb. There are 1,417 cases reported (positive and presumptive combined), which is 25 more than Saturday's total. And 20 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the Cowboy State.. In KOTA Territory, Campbell County reports 55, Sheridan County 26, Crook County 7 and Weston County 1.
