Operation Homefront set to bring holiday cheer to military families
Military families will receive some holiday cheer this Thanksgiving. Supplies for over 200 holiday meals will be distributed by Operation Homefront on Nov. 20. The event will be at the Airman and Family Readiness Center on Ellsworth Airforce Base from 4 to 7 p.m.
The program comes as part of the group’s Holiday Meals for Military program.
Meal kits will include non-perishable items and a gift card to purchase remaining items needed.
The program started in 2009 when someone noticed that a military family couldn’t afford a holiday meal. That year, the charity provided 500 meals. This holiday season, almost 7,000 meals will be distributed.
