House Bill 1043 was signed into law Thursday and that means the South Dakota National Guard will expand their footprint at Rapid City Regional Airport.

The bill authorizes 500,000 dollars of the 2019 state's general funds to go toward construction of a new readiness center. Another 15 million dollars will come from federal government.

Additional funds will be requested in the state's 2020 and 2021 budgets, above and beyond the National Guard's operating budget.

The new facility will house classrooms, training areas, and administrative offices.
