Every parent wants his or her child to eat healthy food, and one national organization is in Rapid City this weekend to promote a toxin- free community.
Moms Across America is on its Toxin-Free Town campaign tour across the county to raise awareness about GMO foods and getting toxins away from people. The organization says that a solution to avoiding GMOs and pesticides in food is to simply go organic.
Moms Across America Founder Zen Honeycutt says its best for families to avoid soda, fast food, and GMO corn, soy and sugar.
"The best thing to do is buy in bulk, cook at home and go back to cooking the way our grandma's did which was to cook together as a family, and prepare ahead of time and cook meals, and you save a lot of money that way. You can actually eat more cheaply by eating organic," said Honeycutt.
Moms Across America says 62 other countries have either labeled or banned GMOs and hopes that one day our country will be the same. So far, the organization has held events in 44 states.
