RAPID CITY S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Tinder Box, a downtown cigar and tobacco shop, hosted a mobile blood drive Monday, called "Pint for Pint Blood Drive."
Vitalant, formerly known as United Blood Services, parked their mobile blood donation bus just outside of the business.
Those that donated blood were treated to a free beer voucher that they could redeem at the Tinder Box. It was a successful day for Vitalant because the amount of blood that was donated could save up to 75 lives.
"The community always responds when we call upon them, they actively seek us out at blood drives, there are times that we just park the bus and people walk on," said Trisha Osborne, an assistant donor care supervisor with Vitalant. "Most of the time people make appointments just so they don't have to have a super long wait but it was really a success today, we needed 20 units and we got 25. So that was awesome."
Vitalant will have a blood drive at Western Dakota Tech tomorrow and Wednesday and on at Black Hills Harley Davidson on Friday.
