As spring approaches thoughts turn to baseball … unless you are in Sturgis. Then it is motorcycles.

Saturday, Indian Motorcycle Sturgis unveiled its newest bike -- the 2017 Roadmaster Classic -- with a whole lot of chrome and leather.

Now that Indian Motorcycle’s parent company Polaris jettisoned its Victory bikes, more attention and resources can be poured into the iconic Indian.

“With Polaris kind of phasing out Victory, it’s kind of a big deal,” said Abby Carter, Indian Motorcycle Sturgis salesperson. “They timed it very well; they wanted to come out with a new model. We’re very excited to see what Polaris comes out with next for Indian.”

Avid Indian fans will notice the return to the classic look of the old Roadmaster which was made from 1947 to 1953.

Don’t let the Roadmaster “classic” look fool you. It has many of the modern features that touring bike owners have grown accustomed to, including heated seats and touch-screen navigation.

The starting price is in the range of most touring bikes at about $27,000 … depending upon where you buy it.
