The residence and garage were heavily damaged. The occupants were able to escape unharmed due to a working smoke detector in the residence. The house, garage, and 2 vehicles were damaged by the fire. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Rapid Valley VFD was assisted by Rapid City, North Haines, and Box Elder Fire Departments; Pennington County Search & Rescue; Pennington County Sheriffs Office; and the American Red Cross responded to the fire.
