The Historic Homestake Opera House held their first Black Hills Opry Saturday.

Old time classic country songs were performed by groups like Aces and Eights and Gumbo Lily of the West Band.

Aces and Eights came up with the idea and said there is a need for consistent music and theater in the community.

Historic Homestake Opera House Executive Director, Sara Carlson said this also gives tourist something different to engage in.

“There’s changes coming to the interior of the theater in the Homestake Opera House. This is the first time that the color is coming back and that restored plaster work inside the theater is seen for the first time since the fire of 1984,” said Carlson. “It’s also a double treat for people to come back and see the show and also get a chance to see what’s been going on here in the last couple of years.”

Series and upcoming concerts can be found on the Homestake Opera House website.
