RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A home north of Rapid City was destroyed by a fire early Saturday morning.
The people living in the home escaped. However, one person sustained minor burns to his hands and face.
Crews from North Haines and several other volunteer departments, as well as a Rapid City crew, responded to home fire on the 900 block of Virginia Lane, which is off of Haines Avenue, about 5 a.m. Saturday.
According to a release from the North Haines Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters kept the fire from spreading beyond the garage and attic. However, the home is considered a total loss because of significant smoke and water damage.
Two firefighters had minor injuries because of the icy conditions at the fire.
The fire is currently under investigation and it is unknown when a final report on the investigation will be available.
