RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - It’s a new year and if your resolution is wanting to get more involved in volunteering the Helpline Center is there to help.
The Center has three different programs: suicide prevention, community resource and volunteer connections. By dialing 2-1-1 or going online to their website www.healthcenter.org, you can find information on how you can get involved. The Center connects you with 150 different non-profits to help in the area.
“Volunteers are our community. When you have a volunteer you have marketing, you have someone that's going to tell people about your organization you bring that community into your organization. There's a lot that volunteers can bring that paid staff can bring, but their unpaid. And so, you want someone that still wants to be there and still believes in your mission and provides the support that your organization needs,” said Audrey Nordine, Helpline Center Volunteer Connections Coordinator.
The Helpline is found throughout South Dakota from Sioux Falls, Brookings and in Rapid City.
