Former church youth volunteer in court on sexual assault charges
The court case of a former high school youth volunteer who is accused of multiple charges of child rape continued Thursday.
28-year-old Zachary Swisher appeared at a status hearing before Judge Robert Mandel.
Swisher was arraigned in March on six counts of first degree rape against a person under the age of 13 and one count of sexual contact with a child under sixteen.
According to the church pastor, Swisher served briefly as a high school youth volunteer at Calvary Lutheran Church.
The alleged victims were nine and ten.
The accusations stem from August through October of last year.
Swisher faces a possible life sentence on each of the first degree rape charges, and up to fifteen years on the sexual contact charge.
Swisher is free on a $200,000 bond.
He is due back in court July 14th.
