Federal indictment for man who threatened Red Cloud school

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A federal indictment was handed down in Rapid City after new charges face a Tennessee man who made threatening videos on YouTube last month.

Daniel Richardson Jr. could face more than five years in prison charged with making interstate threats and possession of a firearm on school property.

Court documents say Richardson made a $1,000 donation to Red Cloud in 2017 and was invited to the school. He subsequently posted threatening videos saying disparaging things about Jesuits.

The historically Jesuit Red Cloud School notified tribal police who arrested Richardson when he went to the school on September 21st armed with a .22 caliber revolver.

Richardson is being held in federal custody pending trial.
