RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - It's that time of year where lots of photos will be taken and people want to make sure they capture those holiday memories.
And as it turns out, you don't have to be a professional photographer to get a good photo this holiday season.
"A lot of times people think it's camera dependent, but the camera is just a tool," said Erica Harvey, owner of Erica Lane Photography.
She says don't take pictures of your subject right up against a window, because that can wash them out. Instead, angle their shoulder toward the window and it will give shape to their face.
She also says if you want good pictures of your kids, become eye-level with them to get a good angle.
Last, she says pictures aren't about smiling faces. It's remembering moments and she suggests to capture pictures of the little things to help you remember those moments.
For more tips, Harvey will be hosting a class on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.
