Doug Danger brought a new level of toughness to The Buffalo Chip in Sturgis on Thursday.

Danger jumped across a pit of rattlesnakes to beat a previous record held by Evil Knievil. When people ask him why he would do such a thing, he replied: “I said I would do it, and I am sticking to my word.”

Tonight, Danger rode the 1972 Harley-Davidson XR750 that Knevil rode many years ago.

Danger says he wasn't scared of Thursday’s jump, he just hoped someone fed the rattlesnakes.

"I needed to be going 74,” said Danger, “But I knew I couldn’t be short. I came down hard, but I wasn't short. Any jump you walk away from is a good one."

Danger broke another Knievil record at The Buffalo Chip two years ago during the 75th Annual Sturgis Rally when he jumped 22 cars. One of the next jumps he wants to make is across the Grand Canyon.
