RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV)- Want a haircut for just 3 dollars? Just bring in a can of food and take a seat.
Headlines Academy is hosting its 22nd Cut-a-Thon to collect food for OUR KOTA Care and Share food drive. Discounted haircuts, hand facials, and massages are available by just bringing in a can of food.
There will be a bake sale, Marco's Pizza and an ongoing raffle. The Academy's students are even donating all their tips to the cause. Families could look clean cut without having to break the bank.
"It's a great thing to do for the community. I mean it's important to be able to give back to show students also how to give back to their community also cause they can also be the people that are in need and might need the food from the food banks too. So, and giving cheap haircuts for people that might not be able to afford it," says Headlines Academy Owner Peggy Sproat.
Last year, 300 people filled a few of these bins with food. The school expects even a higher turnout this year.
