RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) -- The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
It's a name you've become used to saying over the years.
But you could soon find yourself getting used to a new name.
The Civic Center recently put out requests for proposals to rename all or parts of the territory's largest convention, sports and concert venue.
And the response was greater than the Civic Center staff anticipated.
Multiple local businesses expressed interest in adding their names to the center.
And staffers are excited.
"It would be great to have a community partner come in and rename the entire facility and we did have a proposal that did offer to name the entire complex," said Priscilla Dominguez, the director of corporate sales at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. "So we're really excited about that and think we've got a great future."
The Civic Center crew will dig in on the proposals and form a committee to review all the ideas.
If all goes well the Civic Center -- or parts of it -- could get a new moniker by April 23.
