Christmas tree tags on sale now

The U.S. Forest Service is now selling Christmas tree tags. They are $10 a piece, and one household can buy up to five tags.

You can purchase these tags from any of the Forest Service offices. Or private businesses, listed at the bottom of the article.

They can also be purchased by mail. Make a check payable to “USDA Forest Service” and sent to:

Public Information Officer at the U.S.Forest Service in the Black Hills, Scott Jacobson, recommends cutting down a tree from north facing slopes. There are certain areas to avoid when cutting down trees.

These would be active timber sale areas, recreation areas, and wilderness areas.

Tags can be purchased until Dec. 24.
