RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - The Rapid City Regional Airport has set a new record for passengers in the months of June through August.

With eight percent more passengers than 2017 for the same time period, the airport is on track to also set a record for number of passengers in the year. As more people travel to and from the Black Hills more flights can be added including more non-stop flight destinations.

"We always appreciate our local customers flying local here in Rapid City. It's so critical to adding your service here that we get people utilizing our airport and flying out of here. Those are the things that help us drive the numbers to get more service into the community and more flights coming here to more non stop destinations," says Patrick Dame, executive director of Rapid City Regional Airport.

The airport is equipped to double the number of passengers they see in a year and will update their infrastructure as needed for future growth.
