RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - A Rapid City property manager owes the city more than $102,000 for delinquent water utility fees.
Countryside Property Management LLC. is the owner of nearly 100 properties in the Star Village area in Rapid City. These properties include homes in the village as well as the Countryside Mobile Home Park, the Marquette Mobile Home Park, and other miscellaneous properties.
The owner of Countryside Property Management is also the owner of the former Boston's restaurant, which recently closed for the second time with a delinquent water bill of $5,000.
The company failed to pay its water bill for at least 3 months, and while the city has decided to shut off the water to the property management offices, they have left the water on for the homes.
Mayor Steve Allender says the renters in this situation are not at fault, as the property management assumes responsibility for the water bill.
Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, the ower paid the city $50,000, which leaves more than half of the bill left to pay.
City of Rapid City representatives say a payment plan has not been put in place to pay off the remaining balance. Water will remain turned off at the Countryside Property Management offices until a payment plan is agreed upon.
