A semi truck crash east of Wall has claimed the life of one man and caused a hazmat situation.

The 45-year-old man died when the semi truck, pulling two trailers, left Interstate 90 and crashed in a pasture. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, he was wearing a seat belt. The drivers name has not been released.

Some diesel fuel from the semi spilled into a creek bed and an unknown fluid also leaked from a container. A hazardous materials team responded to the scene and the container was determined to be safe. The truck and trailers will be removed later.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
