RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - As part of our 25 Days of Giving we are focusing on Meals Wheels Western South Dakota.
The Meals on Wheels program provides thousands of hot and frozen meals to seniors in 39 communities in Western South Dakota. With that high volume of meals they are in constant need of volunteers to get those meals where they need to go, especially for the upcoming event later this month.
"Meals on Wheels we're delivering around 500 meals daily now and so of course we're always needing help with assistance for delivering drivers as well as our kitchen, helping pack our second frozen meals but this year we are partnering with Salvation Army," said Cheree Pederson, community resource coordinator for Meals on Wheels. "On December 19, we're going to help deliver their Christmas food boxes to our dining sites."
Subaru of America has a long partnership with Meals on Wheels. Last year they donated 50 specially wrapped Outback vehicles to the program. This year from now until January 2, if you purchase or lease a new Subaru vehicle, the company will donate $250 to your local charity.
